A football tournament is set to kick off in memory of Ciaran Geddes, who died after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing football in Birchwood.
In the wake of his death, Ciaran’s family set up a charity in order to install defibrillators at schools and football clubs.
Since then, Ciarans Cause has gone on to provide £100,000 worth of defibrillators and trained more than 2,500 people on emergency procedures in Warrington
Winwick Bears - the team Ciaran would regularly play for - will be hosting the event at Winwick Leisure Centre on Myddleton Lane on September 4.
There will be six teams involved in the charity match including Winwick Bears, Winwick Hyenas, Winwick Dragons, Bruche Athletic, Skelmerdale United and Woolston Bilbao.
His former coach Niall Ross said he hoped the tournament would keep Ciaran;s memory alive.
He added: “If we are successful this year, I will continue to grow the tournament year on year. All the proceeds from the tournament are given to the chaity.”
